  1. The programs in this collection are Shareware.  Issues regarding the
  2. performance of a particular program should be addressed to the author
  3. of the program.  All of the information about the programs is included,
  4. as provided by the author, in the directory containing the program files.

  13.                      DISPLAY PROBLEMS:  WINDOWS 3.1x
  14.  
  15. The following problems are known to occur in Windows when using a
  16. some display drivers with 256 colors (or greater):
  17.  
  18.         All of the expected icons may not be created in the target
  19.         Program Manager group.
  20.  
  21.         In the case above, the problem is with the Windows display 
  22.         driver which being used.  Changing the Windows display driver 
  23.         to VGA will probably eliminate the problem.  
  24.  
  25.         The Windows display driver may be changed using Windows Setup
  26.         which is in the Main group (by default).  It is a good idea to
  27.         note the driver currently being used so that you can return to
  28.         it when you have finished with the Icon Wizard.  
  29.         
  30.         After starting Windows Setup, select VGA display driver 
  31.         (and if prompted, you may select the "current" driver).

  35.         "SMALL FOOTPRINT" CD-ROM OPERATION
  36.  
  37.     We are pleased to introduce a new feature for Micro Star CD-ROM Club
  38.     members -- the "small footprint" CD.  What this means to you is saving
  39.     space on your hard drive.  All of the DOS and Windows applications
  40.     which are included on the CD-ROM will run directly from the CD without
  41.     being installed to your computer's hard drive.
  42.  
  43.     Instead of installing all of the program files, we have licensed a special
  44.     utility program which saves only the essential information to your hard
  45.     drive.  Here is how it works:
  46.  
  47.     In Windows:  a file called "winstart.bat" should have been copied to your
  48.     Windows directory.  When you start Windows, you will see this message:
  49.         "Redirecting all DOS write operations from CD-ROM drive
  50.         x: to drive d:\CD.SAV\... "
  51.  
  52.     This will happen each time you start Windows.  If you want to disable
  53.     this feature, simply delete (or edit) the "winstart.bat" file in your 
  54.     Windows directory.
  55.  
  56.     If you do not see the message about redirecting DOS writes, you may
  57.     already have a "winstart.bat" file.  To add the utility so that the Windows
  58.     programs may be run directly from the CD-ROM disc, simply EDIT your
  59.     existing "winstart.bat" file to add the following line:
  60.         updat_cd c:\cd.sav
  61.  
  62.     Save the edited file and when you re-start Windows, the utility will be
  63.     loaded as Windows starts each time.  You will then be able to run Windows
  64.     programs directly from the CD.

  66.     DOS programs:
  67.  
  68.     In DOS, change to your CD-ROM drive and simply enter MENU.  The utility
  69.     will be started in memory (using only 3Kbytes) and the menu will start.

  71.     NOTE:  In some cases, DOS programs may not run from the menu.  This
  72.     can happen because the menu is memory resident and, in some cases, may
  73.     use enough program memory so that there isn't enough left for programs.
  74.     If this happens, enter MENU to start the utility program and start the menu.
  75.     EXIT the menu and change to the directory containing the program that you
  76.     want to run.  Start the program;  you will still be able to run the program
  77.     directly from the CD with the DOS writes redirected to the hard drive.
